   Hirova Monastery is located in the village Niculaeuca, Orhei, 160 km from Chisinau and 15 km from Orhei. Please be aware that it is possible to confuse Hirova monastery in the village Orhei Hirova of Calarasi.    According to sources, Hirova was founded as a monastery for nuns in 1805, the Metropolitan of Moldova, Veniamin Costache. They say something earlier but there was a monastery of monks who burned in about 1803. After leaving the monks, nuns arrive here from the hermitage hollow, which built a wooden church in honor of the great Nicholas. Already in 1836 the wooden church was built where the present church of stone. Among the founders there is also the nun Pelagia, Sister Gabriel Callimachi Metropolitan Moldova. In 1865, John baptized man giving hand in these places, winter church building, dedicated to "Welcome the Lord." Between the two world wars, is the monastery was already inhabited by 190 monks.    Hirova Monastery, was closed in 1959, even the Great Sunday by Soviet power, the monastery and others of that time being devastated. The nuns left the monastery but, living in boxes on its territory. Monastery was confiscated land and the whole household. Summer Church "Saint Nicholas" was converted into a coal deposit, then a granary. Winter Church "Saint Simon Stylite" after a radical renovation, becoming a hospital for handicapped children, and later was taken over by authorities and used for household. According to sources, the summer church icons were brought to the church "St. Nicholas" Orhei and in the winter to Japca Monastery, the only remaining open throughout Bessarabia sin. Church "Saint Nicholas" was repaired in the years 1988-1990 is, as the church reopened in February 1990. Painting the church was rebuilt in 1997. Church "St. Simeon Stylite" was built of straw and clay in almost 140 years ago, but remained in ruins during the communist period and will be repaired.
